Tesoros de Dios provides therapy and services to children and adolescents with disabilities and their families in a non-residential setting in Managua, Nicaragua.

Who We Serve

We currently have over 130 children enrolled in programs at Tesoros de Dios. These children present a wide range of physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, Autism, Spina Bifida, Brain Damage, Learning Disabilities, and others. Their ages range from infant to 23 years old. Most children come from low-income families, many living in poor conditions that are not conducive to their health conditions.

What We Do

Our hired Nicaraguan staff provide services to these children which include: Equine-therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education, Early Intervention, Transition, Palliative Care, and others. Each child attends Tesoros de Dios once or twice a week with a family member or caregiver for 2-6 hours of therapy. Depending on a child’s specific needs, he/she may receive therapy and support in a variety of areas during weekly visits. Our children either begin or end each day with devotions and prayer. In addition to services for our children, family members and caregivers receive support through devotions, support groups, disability education, trainings, and counseling services.

Why We Do It

In Managua alone, there are an estimated 140,000 individuals with disabilities (National Statistics and Census Institute of Nicaragua). Despite this number of people with disabilities, services and support for them is extremely limited. Tesoros de Dios is one of few centers or schools that serve children with disabilities, and one of the only holistic therapy and support centers in Managua.

How We Run

Tesoros de Dios is a fully support-based non-profit. Through the support of donors like you, our children attend our center free-of-charge. In addition to monetary donations, Tesoros de Dios receives support from individuals, churches, schools, and organizations that volunteer, provide trainings, complete building projects, perform maintenance, and encourage our children, families, and staff.

Where We Are Located

The center is on the outskirts of Managua, on Carretera Vieja a León.
